Being an ambitious classical guitar player as a kid, Dennis Pientak got his first double bass lessons at the age of 13 by Wlodzimierz Gula. He gathered his first orchestral experiences in the German National Youth Orchestra. Later on he was part of the junior college of the Folkwang University of the Arts, where he also began his Bachelor studies under guidance of Prof. Niek de Groot and Olivier Thiery. From 2016 he was part of the class of Prof. Rick Stotijn at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf, where he graduated with his Bachelor degree in 2018 and is currently studying for his Masters.
Dennis was part of the orchestra academy of the hr-Sinfonieorchester (Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra) from 2018-2019. He was taught there mainly by Kai von Goetze.
Since January 2020 Dennis is principal double bass player of the Philharmonie Zuidnederland. As a guest he played in orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie Saarbrücken.
Apart from his teachers, masterclasses with Matthew Macdonald, Joel Quarrington, Nabil Shehata and Janne Saksala shaped and inspired his playing until today.
